The Production Services Association (PSA has announced the addition of three new council members, including our business director Mary Shelley-Smith. Eat to the Beat was one of the PSA’s founding members so it’s a lovely full circle moment in our history. Mary’s significant expertise in production and crew catering within the music, entertainment, film, and TV sectors.

The PSA is overseen by a Council of 14 members, representing individuals and companies of all sizes across the live event production sector. This structure ensures a broad representation of members, fostering a unified voice of all those working backstage to government, statutory bodies and other industry representative groups.

Commenting on her appointment Mary said: “Our late founder Tony Laurenson has been involved in the PSA since the very beginning and as a result so has Eat to the Beat. We’re definitely amongst the original members and very proud to be so. To now join the Council and continue that relationship is an honour.

“It’s important that everyone has a voice and that we work collaboratively to drive change. I’m also passionate about sustainability and would like to see us taking a proactive approach to reducing our carbon footprint across all areas of the production industry. Looking to the future of the industry and encouraging and nurturing the next generation should definitely be a priority for us too.

“To have the opportunity to give something back to an industry that has given so much to me feels right. I’m excited about being a part of something that can improve the industry for all.”

Co-chairs Liz Madden and Tom Rees shared, “It’s wonderful to welcome our new nominees in joining the existing council team. Knowing there is such enthusiasm to move the PSA forward and further represent our members is incredibly important and encouraging to us all.

“We look forward to accelerating our plans, involvement and membership growth this year and beyond.

“Our mission is to continue to be the voice of the live event technical production industry through strong and clear representation outwardly and supportive of our members inwardly.”
With new initiatives underway and more in development, Liz Madden also expressed appreciation for both current and outgoing Council members and staff, saying, “I would like to extend both of our gratitude as co-chairs to our current and departing Council members for their dedication during their terms of office. Also, to thank our two most recent General Managers who got us through difficult times and moving towards this new phase of growth.”

Tom Rees added, “The Production Services Association’s overarching aims are to foster a positive working environment, facilitate discussions on relevant industry issues, provide valuable information to assist both individuals and businesses alike, and promote high standards to make this a better business for all.”
