Our account manager Hayley Collins shares details of this year’s Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Kick-starting our summer 2024 season was the prestigious Royal Windsor Horse Show. First staged in 1943 to help raise funds for the War effort, the event has continued to grow and is now the only show in the UK to host international competitions in Show Jumping, Dressage, Driving, and Endurance. Adored by the late HM Queen Elizabeth II and now Queen Camilla and Princess Anne.
This year, an experienced Eat to the Beat team led by Lyn Smith delivered catering for show organiser H Power, the Azerbaijan team and a few apples and carrots for the horses. The catering facilities were actually surrounded by Azerbaijan’s beautiful horses in their stables.
If you have not seen the Azerbaijan horses perform before at RWHS, it is breathtaking! The jaw-dropping performance saw skilled riders perform the splits while balancing on two trotting horses and hanging upside down from their steeds as they galloped around the show ring. The participants use a lot of energy in their training and performances so as you can imagine when it came to mealtimes, they needed good nutritious food.
We served a range of meal options to accommodate the varied needs of the people we are catering for, from hot meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Azerbaijan catering tent to packed lunches and bento boxes, which were transported around the site to those on the move. The flexibility and efficiency shown by our team was brilliant, handling last-minute changes and requests with ease. Whether it’s preparing extra packed lunches to accommodate unexpected demand or setting up additional refreshment stations to ensure everyone stayed hydrated and refreshed on long and warm days.
We have already received great feedback from the H Power team, expressing their thanks and saying how impressive the team had been.
